"NEVER TOO LATE" Hockey Skills Program

**PLEASE NOTE THIS PROGRAM IS SOLD OUT FOR FALL/WINTER 2019**

TOP Sports is excited unveil our "NEVER TOO LATE" hockey skills program for the 2019-2020 season.  The "NEVER TOO LATE" program is designed for boys and girls ages 9 to 13 who are looking to learn the basics of the game of hockey in a passionate, high energy environment. The program is focused on developing proper skating skills, puck handling fundamentals, passing, and shooting skills. We believe it is important to build general physical literacy such as hand-eye coordination, balance, and agility, which will help our participants develop into more well-rounded athletes on and off the ice. This program is designed to offer quality hockey training to players of ALL levels.

During each practice session, participants will rotate through a series of zones on the ice, which will be split between “teaching” zones and “mini-game” zones. We believe that maintaining a balance between technical teaching time and less structured game play time will accomplish the two primary goals for participants in the program – to learn the basic skills of hockey and to grow passion for the sport.

Elements of the Never-Too-Late Program

  • Skating basics (balance, turns, strides, stops, posture, backwards skating).
  • Puck handling & Shooting (wrist rolling, weight transfer, coordination).
  • Gameplay and "mini-Game" stations (freeze tag, puck races, tug-a-war).
  • Advanced skills (crossovers, dekes, passing, body positioning).
