After a great start to summer 2020, TOP Sports is excited to expand our camp offerings to include two weeks of full-day KIDS Camp at the brand new Champion Taekwondo Studio in late August and early September. KIDS Camp will provide children ages 4-8 with a energetic and passionate camp experience, including outdoor multi-sport play, basic martial arts training (non-contact), and creative arts activities. These camps are designed to be fun, interactive, and push kids outside of their comfort zone and try something new!
For the KIDS Camp we are proud to partner with Champion Taekwondo, a brand-new martial arts studio located in the Forest Hill Village. Champion boasts over 5,000 square feet of studio space, including two full-size mat areas, a creative arts area, and large common area. In addition to Champion, our outdoor activities will take place at Suydam Park and Forest Hill Junior Public school, both only a short walk from the studio.
We believe that the foundation of a child's enjoyment of summer camp starts with the coaches, and we do not take that responsibility lightly. All camps are led by former professional, collegiate, or amateur athletes and experienced child-care staff who want to give back to the next generation. Our coaches bring a ton of energy to summer camp, and our ultimate goal is for every child to leave at the end of the day with a sweaty head and big smile.
What are you doing to protect against the spread of COVID-19?
All of our programs are designed with Provincial and Municipal day-camp regulations in place. The safety of our campers, coaches, and staff are our highest priority, and we have a lengthy health & safety policy in place, which includes the following measures:
Will the camp take place indoors or outside?
Camp activities will take place in four distinct locations, with the Champion Taekwondo Studio as our homebase for drop-off and pickup. Activities will take place at Champion Taekwondo Studio, Champion Taekwondo Arts Room, Suydam Park, and Forest Hill Junior Public School. As most of our activity will take place indoors, we have safety protocols in place to avoid mixing of groups, transfer of germs on equipment, and overcrowding in common areas.
Will two different age groups be placed in the same groups?
No, during weeks with multiple age groups, each age will be placed in age-appropriate groups for camp sessions. In an effort to make the groups distinct, each group will have a dedicated head coach that is with them for the entire week and color-coded wristbands.
Are there extended drop-off and pickup hours available?
Unfortunately due to the COVID-19 pandemic, there will be no before or after care offered for these camps.
Are lunch or snacks included in the camp packages?
No, lunch is not included in full-day camp packages. Players are required to bring their own lunch and NUT-free snacks. All lunch periods will be taken with physical distancing measures in place.
